American Pie

American Pie

The song American Pie is a secular humanist world view...

God and the Universe:
what is in control?
music is God and music died so therefor so did God, leaving humans sad and without anyone to control them.
Humanity and Identity:

Humans wnat something belive in (music or God), they are sad, hopeless
Humans are material "with no time left to start again"
They have no power
They are innocent, it is the musics' fault..it died and left them
Conflict and Suffering:
Humans are lonely and have no hope
The Universe is flawed because the music died
The flaws are sad and unlucky
Hope and Redemption:
The answer to the human struggle is to leave and get away from your struggles
They find there hope for tomorrow no where..."we all cried"
Values/Morals:
They find value in life through materialistic things
They fear death and prize music and happiness

Truth and Reality:
No God is true because the music died
No supernatural explanation needed

WOO vs TCON

The Wizard of Oz  is post modernism... mostly, but the cronicles of narnia (which i havent seen) is probably christian, being that the author is christian and wrote lots of other christian books.  Anyways, aslyn is suppossed to be the christ figure who who is sent to narnia to help the people. He is later sacrificed on a stone table, representing the crucifiction. When he is sent to earth the people need to learn to fallow and trust him. The witch in the story is supposed to be satan. She is eveil and tricky and want aslyn to fail!

MaMmOn

Mammon is one of the deamons from Paradise Lost book one. He is often known as a deamon that is greedy and loves wealth. He wants to find minerals in Hell and spends time digging for it in order to make a meeting hall in Hell. Also, he is described as the least of the deamons. Gold is a high priority for him

The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz has a Post modern worldview. This is shown by the people wanting to believe in a god when they dont need one. They were believing in it to make them feel better. ALso, they figure out that they invented their gos. Also, the mind is a major concept of the movie. The whole time Dorthy is dreaming the whole story line and goes from one state of being to another.
